Ice Queen - Snow Storm

This is a project I made for a contest [link] held by dark-tarou [link] in which to draw her character, the Ice Queen [link] This is how I imagined her.

Frankly, I like the general elegance in the style of an Ice Queen. But at least in my hands, I would never give a winter goddess such a bloddy personality. True, I totally accept the coldness of the element - coldness of the heart analogy. Minimal emotion is a must.

However, white has and will always represent purity. I can picture an amoral character linked to winter but not a necesarily evil one.

There was this fairytale I read when I was a kid, also called "Ice Queen". While the antagonist character used to scare the shit out of me, I never saw her as an evil force - more like a misunderstood, lonely goddess with some pretty weird maternal needs.

Another instance where one could find an Ice Queen is in C S Lewis's books (Narnia universe). There she was meant to be the absolute incarnation of the devil . But if you think about it she managed to gather all the ugly and vile creatures that nobody wanted around her and provide them with a home. In any case, I guess Lewis' general idea was that the devil can be very tempting and beatiful while at the same time powerful and dangerous.

Anyway, I really like Ice Queens . They make for awesome characters !

I'm sorry I couldn't make an awesome background, though this one is pretty much what I had in mind from the start...
